An oat based face mask is  recommended for combination skin (skin that is oily skin in some areas of your face and dry skin in others) that needs a boost.

What You need:

  • ½  cup of oats
  • A pure cotton cloth

Here’s How To Make & Apply The Mask: 

Step 1: 

Ready the half cup of oats and soak in water for 12-24 hours at room temperature. Then strain and refrigerate the oat water for a minimum of 30 mins before use.

Step 2: 

Find a soft pure cotton cloth to form the base of your sheet mask. Hold over your face and mark out your eyes, nose and mouth with an eyeliner, then carefully cut out the small sections.

Step 3: 

Soak the DIY sheet mask in the infused water and place in the fridge for 30 minutes to cool. To speed up the process, you can also pop an ice cube into the water.

Step 4: 

Once infused, ring out the excess moisture from the mask. Place the mask over your face, aligning the holes with your eyes and mouth and leave on for 10-30 minutes. Remove the mask and rub in any excess moisture.

#2 Avocado and Honey Face Mask: Best For Oily Skin

Raw honey is great for skin that  struggles with excess sebum because it has antibacterial properties and is also a powerful antioxidant. 

It also contains glycolic acid so it’s a natural exfoliator but much gentler on the skin than those grainy scrubs you find in the stores.

  • ½ medium avocado, mashed
  • 1tbsp of Manuka honey
  • Cooled green tea (optional)

Step 1:

Combine the mashed flesh of half a medium-sized organic avocado with 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey.

Step 2:

Massage the mask mixture into the face and neck and leave on for 15-20 minutes.

Gently rinse off with warm water then, if you wish, dab your skin with cool Green Tea

Step 2: 

Gently mix the ingredients together and apply all over the face using your fingers or a spatula. Make sure you avoid the eye area.

Step 3:

Leave the mask to sit for at least five and up to 20 minutes, before rinsing off.

#4 Turmeric & Honey Face Mask: Best for Acne Prone Skin

Turmeric has proven anti-inflammatory properties, so it's a key ingredient to use in a homemade mask if you suffer from acne.

In a bowl mix half a teaspoon of turmeric with a tablespoon of honey. Manuka is the most favorable, but any type will do

Layer it evenly over your clean, dry skin and leave on for between 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with a warm face cloth

#5 Cucumber, Turmeric, Oat & Avocado Face Mask: Best for Mature Skin

Start by blending a ¼ cup of oats with ½ tsp of turmeric (in a food processor) to create a powder.

Step 2: 

Next grate ¼ of cucumber and mash it with 1/3 of the avocado. Add to the blender and blitz all the ingredients together until you have a smooth paste.

Step 3: 

Pop your mixture in the fridge until cold (applying it cold will stimulate the microcirculation giving an extra skin boost).

Step 4: 

Smooth a thickish layer over the skin, wait for 20-30 mins then rinse off. 

A note of caution: Turmeric will stain clothes and surfaces so careful of spills. If you feel like the mixture is too thin and runny. you can add more oats

#6 Yoghurt & Coconut Mask: Best for Stressed Skin
